COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team advanced into the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals tonight with a convincing 4-0 win over visiting Georgetown (Ky.) College at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
In addition to advancing to the next round of the MSC Tournament, the Blue Raiders won the program's 400th all-time game. Lindsey Wilson becomes the 11th NAIA institution to win 400 games.
No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson scored a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of game to take the early lead. Sophomore Lwandiso Gonya opened the game's scoring in the fourth minute with his seventh goal of the season. Six minutes later freshman Orrin Farrell scored from just outside the penalty area as the ball maneuvered its way through a crowd and into the back of the net.
Lindsey Wilson junior Moses Aduny netted his 11th goal of the season in the 33rd minute off an assist from senior Zetroy Robertson. The goal gave the Blue Raiders a 3-0 lead.
Following the break, senior Carnell Learmond -- the team's leading scorer -- scored an empty netter after the ball pinged around the box and landed on his foot. The goal -- his 19th of the season -- gave the Blue Raiders the 4-0 lead and eventually the win.
Learmond's goal added to his MSC lead and moved him to third nationally.
The Blue Raiders outshot No. 7-seed Georgetown 15-3.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore goalkeeper Greg Hartley picked up his second straight shutout while stopping all three Tiger shots. Georgetown goalkeeper Steven Baumfaulk allowed all four LWC goals while collecting five saves.
