Box Score 3 MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The 15th ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday and beat its Sunday opponent at the AUM Spring Tennis Invitational.
The Blue Raiders topped 19th ranked Xavier (La.) University 5-0, and then lost to 10th ranked Oklahoma Christian University 5-2 on Saturday. Lindsey Wilson beat Huntingdon (Ala.) College 7-2 on Sunday to wrap up play in the invitational.
Jessica Weyreuter won at No. 2 singles for the Blue Raiders against Oklahoma Christian, topping Maja Vuzern 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 1 doubles team of Weyreuter and Trina Slapeka registered the other Lindsey Wilson point, winning 8-5 over Vuzern and Maja Plavsic.
Lindsey Wilson routed Xavier, sweeping all three doubles matches to open the contest leading 3-0 heading into singles play. Only Weyreuter and No. 6 seed Marina Pacifico needed to win their matches to give the Blue Raiders the win.
The Blue Raiders won their lone Sunday match in almost the same fashion, sweeping the doubles portion against Huntingdon. Weyreuter and Pacifico won their singles matches once again, with Weyreuter defeating Riley Prescott 6-0, 6-2 and Pacifico handling Christian Vick 6-0, 6-0.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 20 against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College at the Lindsey Wilson tennis courts.
