GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team wrapped up the Mid-South Conference regular season title today with a 3-0 win over host Georgetown (Ky.) College.
The Blue Raiders earn the conference's top seed in the MSC Tournament, which begins on Saturday, Nov. 5 as Lindsey Wilson hosts No. 8-seed University of Pikeville (Ky.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The regular season title is the 10th for the Blue Raiders in their 12-year history in the Mid-South Conference.
The NAIA's No. 1-ranked Blue Raiders (14-0, 7-0 in the MSC) scored all three of their goals in the second half to remain perfect this season.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Philip Sandgren continued his outstanding play with his team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 50th minute to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead.
Eleven minutes later the Blue Raiders double their lead as freshman Tom Moody scored off a Sandgren assist to extend the lead to 2-0. The goal was Moody's second this season.
Senior Moses Aduny finished the scoring in the 87th minute off classmate Chris Williams' assist for the 3-0 lead and eventual win. Aduny's goal is his seventh of the season and his 45th of his career.
With the goal, Aduny moves into a tie for 11th on the Blue Raiders' all-time goals scored list.
Freshman Nomura Yuta recorded his ninth shutout of the season between the pipes.
Lindsey Wilson out-shot Georgetown (3-12-1, 2-4-1) in the match 16-1.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Nov. 1 as Lindsey Wilson travels to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) University in Pulaski, Tenn. for the regular season finale.
