No. 2 Seed Men's Soccer Overpowers Roberts Wesleyan 7-0

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Eddy Campbell took possession of the ball near midfield in the 23rd minute and dribbled all the way into the box by himself to boot a goal that would stand as the game-winner as the No. 2 seed Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team overpowered Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College 7-0 on Saturday in the first round of the NAIA National Championship at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

If you had quit following the game at halftime you would have thought the Blue Raiders were in a battle that could have gone either way.

At the break, Lindsey Wilson led just 1-0 after outshooting the Raiders 10-0. Then in the second half the lid popped open for Blue Raiders scoring opportunities.

Six goals in all were scored in the game's second half with junior Lebogang Moloto leading the way with back-to-back goals scored in the 60th and 78th minutes.

Freshman Philip Sandgren matched Moloto over the next six minutes, scoring in the 80th and 84th minutes as the goals kept rolling in for Lindsey Wilson. Sandgren's classmate Tom Moody issued the assist on both goals.

Not satisfied with the five-goal advantage, the Blue Raiders struck again with a two-goal 88th minute. Senior Chris Williams scored first on a penalty kick after a Raider foul in the box, followed by a Moody goal that he curled in from about 20 yards out on the left side of the box.

Roberts Wesleyan did manage to fire two shots in the second half as the Blue Raiders finished the game with a 26-2 shot advantage. Just dealing with shots on goal Lindsey Wilson dominated 16-0.

Williams was the game's shot leader with six attempts, many coming from flying headers off of corner kicks, while Moloto was close behind with five shots. Both players put four of their attempts on goal.

Donavan Wilson and Hayden Hoebeke shot in the second half for Roberts Wesleyan as its keeper Erik Read closed the game with eight saves, while allowing all seven goals.

Freshman Yuta Nomura went the distance for Lindsey Wilson in goal without having to make a save to record the shutout.

Lindsey Wilson advances to the second round of the NAIA National Championship where it plays at 2:30 p.m. CT on Monday, Nov. 28 against No. 15 seed Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala.
