COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Moses Aduny put together a hat trick with three goals and also added an assist to lead Lindsey Wilson College past the University of Pikeville (Ky.) 8-1 in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Tournament at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Saturday night.
Freshman Philip Sandgren had a hat trick amount of assists with three and also scored two goals while junior Eddy Campbell scored the game's first and final goals for the Blue Raiders.
Pikeville got its lone score from Juan Egas in the 43rd minute on a one-touch shot from near midfield that floated over the head of Lindsey Wilson freshman goalkeeper Yuta Nomura and bounced into the back of the net.
The goal was scored on one of only two shots taken by the Bears all night as Lindsey Wilson outshot them 37-2, including a 19-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Nomura played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blue Raiders while needing to make only one save. Pikeville's Sheldon Thomas also went the distance in goal, making 11 saves while allowing all eight scores.
The Blue Raiders were effective controlling the majority of the possessions to help finish with a 17-0 advantage in corner-kick opportunities.
Newcomer Tom Moody also scored for the Blue Raiders off an assists from Sandgren in the 12th minute.
The goal that ended up being the game winner was set up beautifully by Sandgren as he touched a soft pass to Moody who was running just a few feet ahead that he controlled and booted into the back of the net.
Campbell's first goal of the game in the sixth minute was a no doubter as he took possession on the right side of the box from nearly 15 feet out and rifled a shot across the goal that found its way in with no chance for Thomas to get a hand on it.
Egas' long-range goal for Pikeville made the score 3-1 right at the halfway mark which woke up the Blue Raiders on offense as they continued on to score five unanswered goals to put Pikeville away.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action in the semifinals of the MSC Tournament at 4 p.m. CT on Nov. 9 against Campbellsville (Ky.) University in Rio Grande, Ohio.
