Box Score BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union (Ky.) College managed just one team point as the 13th ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team rolled 5-1 on Sunday after sweeping the doubles' points and first three singles' matches.
Sophomore Laura Vergara was the highlight in the Blue Raider win, topping Nicole Bistline at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0, and then teamed up with senior Trina Slapeka at No.1 doubles for another shutout win, 8-0.
Slapeka also earned a win at the top singles' position 6-2, 6-4 against the Bulldogs' Diane Protean, while Lindsey Wilson No. 2 seed, sophomore Slavica Milanovic won 9-7 in a super set due to rain shortening the match.
Patricia Nardy earned the only point of the match for Union with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win against sophomore Ashley Phillips.
Phillips also got to notch a win, however, teaming with Vergara at No. 2 doubles in the 8-0 win against Patricia Nardy and Marah Rice. Slapeka and Milanovic were strong at No. 1 doubles, beating Protean and Ximena Aguilar 8-2.
Neither team used a player at No. 6 singles or entered a team at No. 3 doubles.
