Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- With the only loss of the day coming at No. 3 doubles, the Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team had an easy day, dispatching the University of Virginia's College at Wise 8-1 on Sunday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
Despite the lone loss, the Blue Raiders closed doubles' play with a 2-1 lead after junior Trina Slapeka and sophomore Slavica Milanovic topped Rachel Juhan and Whitney Bolling 8-1 at the top seed and sophomores Edelmira Ferri and Laura Vergara recorded an 8-0 win at No. 2 against Megan Buchanan and Lauren Powers.
Lindsey Wilson (11-5, 4-1 MSC) didn't lose a match during the singles portion of the day.
Slapeka topped Bolling 6-1, 6-0 at the top seed and Vergara beat Buchanan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Milanovic won at No. 3 6-0, 6-0 against Briana Stallard and freshman Rocio Cardo was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Juhan.
Ferri topped Powers 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) at the fifth seed and sophomore Ashley Phillips helped shutout UVa.-Wise (4-6, 0-4 MSC) in singles with a 5-7, 6-2, (10-4) win at No. 6.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on April 22-23 at the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Louisville, Ky., at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Louisville.
