Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team continued its recent dominance of the opposition with a 9-0 sweep of host Southern Indiana University today at the SIU Tennis Courts.
No. 14-ranked Lindsey Wilson (6-2) captured its fifth straight win -- including four wins by scores of 9-0. Southern Indiana falls to 5-5 on the season with the loss.
The Blue Raiders wasted little time assuming control of the match as Lindsey Wilson won all three doubles points.
Lindsey Wilson's Anna Gaprindashvili and Rocio Cardo set the tone for the day with an 8-0 win over Ellena Stumpf and Heather Lee in No. 3 singles.
Diana Gerlakh and Laura Vergara followed their teammates lead with an 8-3 win over Logan Ackerman and Heather Joyce to grab the 2-0 lead.
Minutes later in the top doubles match, Trina Slapeka and Slavica Milanovic matched Gerlakh and Vergara's score as the top Blue Raider pair dismissed Stephanie Smith and Morgan Coquerille 8-3 for the 3-0 lead.
The Blue Raiders did not let up in singles play as all six matches ended in straight sets.
Slapeka -- the reigning Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week -- inched the Blue Raiders closer to the team win with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Coquerille to extend the Lindsey Wilson lead to 4-0.
Milanovic claimed the decisive points at No. 3 singles as she defeated Ackerman 6-3, 6-2 for the win.
Gerlakh, Vergara, Gaprindashvili and Cardo each took care of business with straight set wins to clinch the 9-0 team win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Wednesday, March 14 as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 22-ranked Campbellsville University.
