Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The No. 14 Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team shutout Georgetown (Ky.) 9-0 on Thursday in Mid-South Conference play at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
"We really played well and dominated this one from the beginning," said Blue Raider head coach Daniel Finn. "I'm really happy with the effort and energy our girls played with today. Especially since we have been battling the injury bug a bit lately. Now they get a little over a week to rest up and be ready for the next one."
The Blue Raiders started the day off by taking all three doubles matches from Georgetown (2-5, 1-1 MSC).
Diana Gerlakh and Laura Vergara won first at the No. 2 seed, 8-1, over Kaitlyn Thompson and Jacqueline Otis, while third-seeded Anna Gaprindashvili and Rocio Cardo followed with an 8-3 win over Lauren Yates and Natalie Hill.
At No. 1 doubles, Trina Slapeka and Slavica Milanovic faced Shelby Eden and Emily Krick and won 8-4.
Lindsey Wilson (4-2, 2-0 MSC) continued its winning ways by winning all six singles matches.
Slapeka finished first with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Krick, while Milanovic helped the Blue Raiders seal the match with the fifth point by topping Otis 6-4, 6-0.
Gerlakh was a winner at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-1 over Hill, Vergara topped Yates 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 and Gaprindashvili beat Eden 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.
Cardo wrapped up the singles win at the sixth seed 6-2, 6-0 against Mackenzie Hatfield.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 10 at Shawnee State (Ohio) in Portsmouth, Ohio.
