Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Anna Gaprindashvili won at No. 5 singles, but it was not enough as the 12th ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team saw a lead vanish in doubles and couldn't recover in singles play, as top -ranked Auburn-Montgomery won 6-3 on Tuesday at the AUM Tennis Complex.
The Warhawks (16-2) were dominant in the first four singles matches, winning them all in straight sets.
Lindsey Wilson (10-3) had a chance for some early momentum in doubles with AUM already playing two points down with forfeits at sixth singles and third doubles.
The Blue Raiders' top-seeded duo of Trina Slapeka and Slavica Milanovic led 5-3 against Ana Veselinovic and Tiffany William, before the Warhawk pair went 5-1 the rest of the way to steal the 8-6 win.
Morgane Zowczak and Kveta Hajkova had an easier time at the No. 2 seed, shutting out Lindsey Wilson's Diana Gerlakh and Laura Vergara 8-0.
Up 2-1 after doubles, third-seeded William put the match away with AUM's fifth team point in a 6-1, 6-0 win against Milanovic.
Gaprindashvili was the last Blue Raider to finish in singles, battling Hagar Caro for a 6-4, 6-4 win.
Prior to that Lindsey Wilson fell at No. 1 singles as Slapeka -- ranked seventh in the NAIA -- lost to top-ranked Veselinovic 6-0, 6-2. Gerlakh lost at the No. 2 seed 6-1, 6-1 against Zowczak.
Vergara competed at No. 4 singles, but didn't have enough to get past Hajkova, losing 6-2, 6-3.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 7 against UVa-Wise in Wise, Va.
