COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lwandiso Gonya made his senior night a memorable one as he netted two goals in his final regular-season home game at Walter S. Reuling Stadium in the 2-0 win over Georgetown (Ky.) College Tuesday night.
No. 3 Lindsey Wilson improves to 11-2-2 on the season and 7-0-1 in Mid-South Conference play.
Georgetown falls to 5-9-1 on the year and 3-5-0 in conference play.
Gonya netted his first goal in the 29th minute off an assist from fellow senior Albert Edward. Edward crossed the ball into the box as Gonya leaped and put a header into the back of the net to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead.
The scored remained 1-0 heading into the half.
Lindsey Wilson held the advantage in shots in the first half 13-0.
Gonya took little time after the half to score his final goal on the night. Keletso Mosime fed Gonya the goal inside the box and Gonya put it away to put the Blue Raiders up 2-0.
Lindsey Wilson finished with 31 total shots and held the Tigers without one. The Blue Raiders also held the advantage in corner kicks 12-1.
Five seniors were honored before the game for their involvement with the Lindsey Wilson men's soccer program including Gonya, Edward, Musa Mawanda, Davin Shaw and Bastien Montagnon.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action as they travel to Bryan College for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff on Oct. 26 in Dayton, Tenn.
