Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – For the fifth straight match, the No. 5 Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team allowed its opponent one point or less in an 8-1 win against No. 21 Marian (Ind.) on Thursday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (8-2) opened their sixth straight win with a sweep of all three doubles points.
Top-seeded Slavica Milanovic and Sarah Bernos beat Olivia Pursell and Brittney Horlacher 8-5, Alejandra Galvis and Anna Gaprindashvili beat Sarah Potter and Hannah Elliott 8-2 at No. 2 and third-seeded and seventh-ranked Laura Vergara and Rocio Cardo took down Hannah Knust and Lauren Paras 8-3.
Lindsey Wilson lost its lone singles match to Marian (15-6) at the No. 6 seed where Cardo fell 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 to Paras.
No. 1-seed Alejandra Galvis defeated Hannah Knust easily 6-0, 6-1, while the second-seeded Milanovic battled to a win against Horlacher 6-4, 6-7 (6), 10-7.
The other three wins were won in straight sets, including Vergara topping Potter 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 and Gaprindashvili winning the clinching fifth point with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Pursell at No. 4. No. 5 seed Diana Gerlakh finished off the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Elliott.
Lindsey Wilson is off until Monday when it travels to Martin Methodist at 2:30 p.m. CT in Pulaski, Tenn.
