Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay (Tenn.) controlled the doubles point, but it was fourth-ranked Lindsey Wilson that rallied in singles to pick up a 4-3 win on the road against the Governors on Sunday at the Austin Peay Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (3-2) earned singles wins at the second, third, fifth and sixth seeds to come away from the NCAA Div. I opponent with a win.
Third-seeded Laura Vergara topped Andra Cornea despite losing the first set 6-1. Vergara won the match with set wins of 6-3, 6-4 after the opening loss. At No. 5 it was Anna Gaprindashvili handling Jovana Karac in three sets as well, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0.
Diana Gerlakh won in straight sets at No. 6, getting the best of Mary Theresa Kubek 6-2, 6-1.
The only doubles win for the Blue Raiders came at No. 3 where Alejandra Galvis and Gaprindashvili beat Karac and Julie Covington 8-3. Playing NCAA rules on the road, Austin Peay (1-6) grabbed the single team point for winning 2 of 3 doubles matches.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, hosting Pikeville (Ky.) at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
