Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – Exactly a month since its last loss, the fifth-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team had no intentions of revisiting that moment as it shut out Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 9-0 on Monday to win its seventh straight match.
The Blue Raiders (9-2) started the match essentially ahead 3-0 with the Red Hawks (6-5) using just five players and defaulting out at No. 4 singles.
With what it did have on hand, Martin Methodist did not challenge in doubles as top-seeded and 19th-ranked Sarah Bernos and Slavica Milanovic won 8-2 against Callie Thomas and Maria Charrys and No. 2-seed Laura Vergara and Diana Gerlakh topped Laura Ariza and Rachel Wolfe by the same score.
Martin Methodist opted out of the fourth and sixth-seeded singles matches.
Playing No. 1, the 20th-ranked Milanovic battled Charrys for a 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 win, which was the only match to need an extra set.
The other three wins came easily as No. 2-seed Alejandra Galvis beat Thomas 6-3, 6-0, Vergara, playing No. 3, beat Ariza 6-1, 6-0 and fifth-seeded Rocio Cardo won against Natalie Guarnizo 6-0, 6-1.
Lindsey Wilson has a quick turnaround as it travels to Campbellsville (Ky.) at 2 p.m. CT on Tuesday.
