MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Bastien Montagnon scored both goals tonight for the No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team in a 2-2 draw with top-ranked Belhaven (Miss.) at the Capital City Classic.
The top-five matchup is the first of four games hosted by No. 5-ranked Auburn Montgomery this weekend at the Emory Folmar YMCA Complex -- site of the 2013 NAIA National Championships.
Montagnon -- making his Lindsey Wilson debut -- scored in the 42nd and 72nd minutes to send the Blue Raiders to a 0-1-1 record this season.
Montagnon helped the Blue Raiders to a 1-0 lead with a goal off an assist from Keletso Mosime just before the halftime break.
Despite trailing at the half, the Blazers outshot Lindsey Wilson 8-5 in the first 45 minutes.
In the second frame, Belhaven made the most of its three shots as the Blazers (1-0-1) found the back of the net twice.
With a 12-3 shots advantage in the second half, Lindsey Wilson finished the match outshooting the defending national champions 19-12.
Belhaven's Gary Fournier tied the match at 1-1 with a goal off a free kick in the 55th minute.
Montagnon answered with his second score of the night on an unassisted goal to give the Blue Raiders the lead once again with just over 18 minutes remaining in the match.
Lindsey Wilson looked as if it would secure its first win of the season, but with just over five minutes left in regulation, Belhaven's Jose Sergio Presti scored the equalizer on an unassisted goal.
Neither team could find the net in the two overtime periods as the Blue Raiders managed two shots in the final 20 minutes compared to just one shot by Belhaven.
Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Yuta Nomura stopped five Belhaven shots while Carl Blundell ended with three saves in goal for Belhaven.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 8 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 31 against host Auburn Montgomery at the Emory Folmar YMCA Complex.
