Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. -- No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team captured the Mid-South Conference regular season title today with a 5-0 win over Bluefield (Va.) at Tommy Gray Memorial Tennis Courts.
The Blue Raiders secure the program's 10th regular season title in the last 11 years and earn the top seed in next week's conference tournament in Georgetown, Ky.
Today, Lindsey Wilson (11-4, 7-0 in the Mid-South) defeated a depleted Bluefield squad that managed to send out just a pair of doubles teams.
The Blue Raiders did not drop a game in either doubles match and won the team event after the Rams (4-12, 2-4) defaulted three matches.
Anna Helena Pinto and Alejandra Galvis took the first point of the day with an 8-0 win over Casey Germain and Rebecca Havens in the top doubles match. Diana Gerlakh and Alicia Rodriguez added a second point with an 8-0 win over Sierra Queen and Alison Morgan.
Jessica King and Anna Gaprindashvili were awarded a default win at the No. 3 doubles to give the Blue Raiders the 3-0 lead.
Thanks to two more defaults at the five and six seeded singles, Lindsey Wilson claimed the 5-0 win.
The remainder of the matches did not play.
Lindsey Wilson extends its winning streak to eight straight -- all sweeps. The Blue Raiders are a perfect 11-0 this season against NAIA competition, including wins over four nationally ranked teams.
Lindsey Wilson returns to play at 2 p.m. CT on Monday, April 21, as the Blue Raiders travel to St. Catharine (Ky.) for the regular season finale.
