Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The No. 2 Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated No. 25 University of Northwestern Ohio 9-0 on Sunday, April 6.
Lindsey Wilson (8-4, 5-0 MSC) won its fifth straight and its second straight against ranked teams. The Blue Raiders are now 44-0 in singles and doubles matches during this five match win streak.
Lindsey Wilson's No. 2 doubles team of Alejandra Galvis and Alicia Rodriguez continued their winning ways as they defeated Raquel Marquez and Ana Lacerda 8-1 to give Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead. Galvis and Rodriguez are now 3-0 in doubles matches this season.
Jessica King and Ana Helena Pinto, playing No. 3 doubles, beat Andrea Arango and Lina Ramos 8-3. King and Pinto move to 7-0 this season at No. 3 doubles.
Lindsey Wilson secured the doubles sweep as Sarah Bernos and Anna Gaprindashvili defeated Shaleigh McClintock and Kate Bondarenko 8-5.
In singles competition, Pinto defeated Ramos 6-0, 6-1 as she won her 10th match of the season to give the Blue Raiders a 4-0 lead. Pinto is now 2-1 playing in the No. 5 singles position.
King followed Pinto by beating McClintock 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles to win the fifth point for Lindsey Wilson. King is now 9-2 on the season.
Galvis, playing No. 1 singles, was able to cruise past Arango 6-3, 6-0 to give the Blue Raiders a commanding 6-0 lead. Galvis runs her overall record to 7-3 this season. Rodriguez was the next Lindsey Wilson player to finish as she beat Marquez 6-1, 6-4. Rodriguez is now 9-3 this season.
The No. 4 singles match was the closest match of the day as Gaprinsashvili took the first set 6-1 but was pushed to 6-6 in the second set to go to the tie breaker. Gaprindashvili won the tiebreaker 7-1 to give the 8-0 lead over Northwestern Ohio. Gaprindashvili is now 2-0 when playing No. 4 singles.
Diana Gerlakh defeated Lacerda at No. 6 singles 8-2 to give the Blue Raiders a 9-0 sweep over the Racers in Indianapolis.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the court on Tuesday, April 8 as they host (RV) Cumberland (Tenn.) University at 2 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
