Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. -- No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson won a top-25 battle today beating host and No. 21-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.) 7-2.
The Blue Raiders (6-6, 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference) captured the final five points of the match to sprint away from the Bulldogs (6-6, 2-1) to claim their fourth straight win.
Lindsey Wilson led 2-1 following doubles play.
Henar Munoz and Fiona Curty defeated Franki Jecker and Gisela Amor Garcia 8-3 for the first point of the match. Anna Gaprindashvili and Ana Helena Pinto followed with an 8-6 win over Jasmine Shankar and Trinidad Aguirre in the third-seeded match for the 2-0 lead.
Cumberland got on the board with a win in the top doubles match. Angelica Sepulveda and Tarsha de Souza outlasted Alicia Rodriguez and Jessica King 8-6 to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Bulldogs tied the match following the first completed singles match. Sepulveda picked up her second point of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Rodriguez
Lindsey Wilson would break the 2-2 tie with Munoz's 6-2, 6-4 over de Souza -- the first of five straight wins.
King picked up the fourth Lindsey Wilson point with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Shankar at No. 4 singles. Curty earned the decisive point with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win over Garcia in the third-seeded match.
Gaprindashvili and Pinto claimed straight wins to give the Blue Raiders the 7-2 win.
