Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis ran its season-best winning streak to six straight today with an 8-1 win over visiting Georgetown (Ky.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders improve to 8-6 on the season and move into a tie for first place in the Mid-South Conference standings with a 4-0 conference mark with today's win. Georgetown falls to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the loss.
Lindsey Wilson seized control of the match from the outset, winning all three doubles points to take the 3-0 lead.
Henar Munoz and Fiona Curty got the Blue Raiders on the board with today's first point at the second-seeded doubles. The Lindsey Wilson pair defeated Shae Henry and Jacqueline Otis 8-1 to take the 1-0 lead.
Anna Gaprindashvili and Ana Helena Pinto quickly followed with their own 8-1 win. The Blue Raider pair claimed the victory over Alyssa Kennedy and Natalie Fiepke in the third-seeded match.
NAIA's No. 2-ranked Alicia Rodriguez and Jessica King claimed the final doubles point with an 8-2 win over Kaelin Roberts and Kelly Swanson in the top doubles match.
Rodriguez -- ranked No. 3 in the NAIA in singles -- and Munoz claimed the first two singles points of the match to give the Blue Raiders the necessary five points for the win.
Rodriguez defeated Roberts 6-1, 6-2 in the top singles match while Munoz claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win over Henry.
King, Gaprindashvili and Pinto all claimed wins in singles play after the match had been decided.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 2, as the Blue Raiders travel to Campbellsville (Ky.) at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
