Box Score

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team saw their 11-match win streak come to an end with a 6-1 loss to Western Kentucky on Sunday.

The Blue Raiders fall to 13-7 on the year, all seven losses coming against NCAA competition. Lindsey Wilson remains unbeaten against NAIA institutions at 13-0 this season.

Using NCAA rules where the doubles matches are played best two-out-of-three for a single point, the Hilltoppers (7-9) grabbed an early 1-0 after capturing the doubles point.

Henar Munoz and Fiona Curty were the first doubles pairing to fall at the No. 2 flight after Tereza Hejlova and Elpida Malamou took the match 8-0. Jessica King and Anna Gaprindashvili were the next to fall at the top doubles flight losing 8-2 to Emilia Granstrom and Andreanna Christopoulou to capture the doubles point for Western Kentucky.

In the third-seeded doubles flight Alicia Rodriguez and Ana Helena Pinto were able to win 8-6 over Madeline Phillips and Gabby Crofford, but the doubles point had already been captured.

In singles play, the Hilltoppers took control of the match winning the top-four seeded singles matches in straight sets.

The lone Blue Raider point on the day was captured by Pinto at the No. 6 singles match as she took down Phillips 6-4, 6-4.

Gaprindashvili nearly grabbed another point but ultimately fell at the No. 5 position to Crofford 7-6(4), 2-6, 1-0 (6).

"The team fought hard today but we just didn't have our best tennis when it counted," head coach Daniel Finn said. "We will get back to work and use this as a good learning experience before the Mid-South Conference Tournament begins."

The Blue Raiders are next scheduled to compete against Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) on April 14 before the MSC Tournament begins later this month.
