Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team posted a perfect 9-0 shutout of Campbellsville (Ky.) today at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
The fourth-ranked Blue Raiders (9-6, 5-0 MSC) have now won seven-straight matches and are a perfect 5-0 in Mid-South Conference play on the year.
Campbellsville falls to 7-6 on the season and 3-2 in conference play with the loss.
Lindsey Wilson got out to a quick 3-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches to begin the day.
Anna Gaprindashvili and Ana Helena Pinto got the day started with an 8-2 win over Lindy Charity and Meg Brown at the No. 3 doubles position. Alicia Rodriguez and Jessica King quickly followed suit with an 8-2 win of their own at the top doubles position over Anna Tumanyan and Haley Dallas.
Fiona Curty and Henar Munoz trailed 8-7 at the No. 2 doubles position to Jenna Salleo and Megan Charity, but rallied from behind to force a tiebreaker before pulling off the 9-8 (2) victory for the third and final doubles point.
Rodriguez, who ranks No. 3 in the ITA national rankings as an individual, captured the first singles point of the day with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 position over 46th ranked Tumanyan.
Munoz then captured the fifth and decisive point with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Charity at the No. 2 singles position.
Curty won 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 position, Pinto won with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 6, Gaprindashvili won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and King completed the 9-0 sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 4 singles position.
The Blue Raiders now host St. Catharine on Saturday in a Mid-South Conference matchup at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
