Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The ninth-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team opened their 2015 Mid-South Conference schedule at home on Wednesday night with a 5-0 victory over Georgetown (Ky.).

Aleksi Pahkasalo netted his third hat trick of the season, while Franco Roman and Tauan Salgado each scored a goal to extend their goal streaks to three games.

With the shutout, Yuta Nomura now holds the record for most career shutouts in program history with 27, surpassing Drew Burwash and Dean Wortz.

In the first half of play, the Blue Raiders (7-1-0, 1-0-0 MSC) dictated play as they controlled possession throughout the half, and recorded seven shots on goal compared to one from the Tigers (2-3-0, 1-1-0 MSC). However, Lindsey Wilson was not able to get on the board until the 29th minute when Roman put the Blue Raiders ahead, 1-0, off an assist from Serge Gomis.

Lindsey Wilson came right back in the 33rd minute as Pahkasalo blasted a shot to the far post off a pass back from Salgado. The Tigers looked to cut into the Blue Raider leader, but Caue Salgado cleared a shot on goal and Georgetown hit the crossbar late in the half as Lindsey Wilson held a 2-0 lead after the first half.

The Blue Raiders continued their offensive attack in the second half as Tauan Salgado got in on the scoring as he was able to head the ball past the Georgetown net minder off of a cross from Moustapha Fofana.

Pahkasalo completed his third hat-trick of the season with back-to-back goals in the 77th and 85th minutes. Lindsey Wilson preserved the shutout for Nomura en route, to a 5-0 victory.

The Blue Raiders now move to 7-1-0 on the season and have won five-straight matches. Lindsey Wilson has won all 34 meetings against Georgetown.

The Blue Raiders step out of conference play on Friday night as they host Marian (Ind.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff.
