Box Score NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team took down No. 8-ranked Keiser (Fla.) by a 6-3 score on Friday morning at the Bluegrass Racket Club.
The No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders (2-0) captured all three doubles points and the first two singles matches to quickly secure the match victory with the 5-0 lead over the Seahawks (1-3) in the neutral-site matchup.
Fiona Curty and Jessica King were the first doubles pairing to earn a point as the duo took down Keiser's Ana Pinto and Lola Garcia in the second-seeded doubles match 8-1. Natalia Kattah and Gabriella Pedroza then vanquished Teodora Stanciu and Livia Toth by an 8-3 margin at the No. 3 doubles match to make it a 2-0 advantage. Henar Munoz and Maria Prados Cid completed the sweep with a hard-fought 9-7 victory at the top doubles flight over Laura Ortega and Samantha Guy to make it 3-0 in favor of the Blue Raiders.
King was also the first to finish in singles play as she took down Samantha Guy 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles match to make it 4-0. Munoz then secured the win with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Ortega at the top singles flight to mathematically seal the match win for Lindsey Wilson.
Keiser grabbed their first win of the day as Garcia defeated Prados Cid at the No. 5 singles match, and then Pinto followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kattah at the second-seeded singles match to make it a 5-2 overall score. Curty picked up a hard-fought win at the No. 4 singles slot as she took down Stanciu 6-4, 4-6, (10-7) in a tiebreaker for the final Blue Raider point. The Seahawks grabbed the last point after Pedroza retired at the No. 6 singles match bringing the final score to 6-3 in favor of the Blue Raiders.
