No. 3 Women's Tennis sweeps doubles en route to 6-1 win over Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team got back on the winning track with a 6-1 victory over NCAA DI opponent, Morehead State (Ky.).

The Blue Raiders (3-1) grabbed all three doubles matches to gain an early advantage over the Eagles (0-8).

Gabriella Pedroza and Natalia Kattah grabbed the first win at doubles No. 3 with a 6-0 win over Morehead State's Lindsey Wild and Aleksandra Savic. At No. 2 doubles, Jessica King and Fiona Curty secured the double point for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-2 victory over Hayley Wild and Maria Orenella.

The final doubles match came at No. 1 doubles, where Henar Munoz and Maria Prados Cid picked up a 6-3 win over Zina Mehikic and Ayaka Terashi to give the Blue Raiders momentum heading into singles play.

Lindsey Wilson continued to their run into the singles portion of the match as Pedroza won 6-0, 6-0 over Lindsey Wild to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 advantage. Kattah extended the Lindsey Wilson lead with another straight set victory (6-1, 6-2) over Orenella at No. 3 singles.

Curty secured the win for the Blue Raiders as she won, 7-5, 6-2, at singles No. 4, which gave Lindsey Wilson their fourth point of the match. At singles No. 1, Terashi grabbed the lone point of the match for the Eagles with a straight set victory over Munoz, 6-4, 6-3.

To close out the match, King battled back after dropping the first set to win the match, 1-6, 6-3, 10-6. Prados Cid sealed the 6-1 victory for the Blue Raiders with a straight set victory at singles No. 5, 6-4, 6-2.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Friday as the travel down to Chattanooga, Tenn., to face another NCAA DI program in Tennessee-Chattanooga at 1 p.m. CT.
