Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The third-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team fell to NCAA DI program, Tennessee Chattanooga, 7-0, on Friday.
In the race for the doubles point, the Mocs (4-4) edged out the Blue Raiders, 2-1, to take the early, 1-0 lead.
The duo of Kayla Jones and Kelsey Coots grabbed the first doubles victory for Tennessee Chattanooga at doubles No. 1 as they took down Fiona Curty and Maria Prados Cid, 6-1. At doubles No. 3, the Mocs clinched the doubles points with a 6-2 victory by Sydney Patton and Mckenzie Barco.
Lindsey Wilson tried to pick up momentum heading into singles play as Henar Munoz and Jessica King won the final doubles match, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Katie Polk extended the lead for Tennessee Chattanooga as she took down Curty at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. The Mocs continued their run at the beginning of singles play as Patton won 6-0, 6-0 over Gabriella Pedroza at singles No. 6.
Munoz won five games at singles No. 1, but she was unable to get Lindsey Wilson on the board as Coots won 6-2, 6-3 to give the Mocs a 4-0 lead. With the win at No. 1 singles, Tennessee Chattanooga clinched victory.
At No. 2 singles, King lost in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, to Rachele Gazzola and Prados Cid lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles as the Blue Raiders trailed 6-0 with one match remaining.
In the final match of the day, Natalia Kattah lost to Alison Storie, 6-0, 6-4, at singles No. 3 as the Mocs sealed a 7-0 victory.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Sunday afternoon as they face their fourth-straight NCAA DI opponent, when they travel to Murray, Ky., to face Murray State (Ky.) at Noon CT.
