Box Score

MURRAY, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat to NCAA Division I member Murray State (Ky.) University on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders (3-3) fell behind early after a hard-fought battle for the doubles point.

Henar Munoz and Maria Prados Cid dropped the top doubles flight 6-2 to Erin Patton and Hailey Morgan. The Racers' (3-3) duo of Jeanne Masson and Alina Schibol were then able to edge out Gabriella Pedroza and Natalia Kattah 7-5 at the third-seeded doubles match to secure the one doubles point. Fiona Curty and Jessica King were locked in a battle with Megan Blue and Amina Hadzic at the No. 2 doubles match at 6-6 when the third-seeded doubles match ended, so Curty and King's match went unfinished.

Murray State made it a 2-0 lead after Blue downed Munoz at the No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-2. Kattah battled hard with Hadzic at the No. 2 position but ultimately fell 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) to take a 3-0 lead.

The Racers then captured the decisive point after Morgan defeated King 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 3 singles position to make it a 4-0 match lead.

Prados Cid fell in a tightly contested battle at the fourth-seeded doubles flight 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) and Pedroza retired after trailing 6-5 at the No. 6 singles match. Curty fell to Schibol 8-5 in a superset at the No. 5 singles match to conclude the dual and give the Racers the 7-0 victory.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the court for the home opener on Monday as the Blue Raiders host 15th-ranked Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) at 1 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
