No. 3 Women's Tennis wins third-straight match with 9-0 victory over Asbury

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The third-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team won their third-straight match as they swept Asbury (Ky.), 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders (6-3) did not drop a set throughout the match against the Eagles (8-5).

Fiona Curty and Jessica King got the match started with an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles over Alex LoPrinzi and Emily Ross. Henar Munoz and Alex Shchipakina followed at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory against Caitlin Conyers and Sarah Beth Alford.

The duo of Maria Prados Cid and Gabriella Pedroza capped of doubles play with an 8-2 win over Laura Ross Juleah Morehouse at doubles No. 3.

Shchipakina and King started the singles portion of the match with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories at singles No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. With the two wins to start singles play, the Blue Raiders clinched the match as they took a 5-0 lead over Asbury.

At No. 1 singles, Munoz won 6-0, 6-4 for Lindsey Wilson, while Prados Cid won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. In the final two matches, Curty won 6-0, 6-1 at singles No. 4 and Pedroza also picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles to secure a 9-0 victory for the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson is slated to play their first Mid-South Conference match of the season on Friday afternoon against No. 14 Cumberland (Tenn.) at 1 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
