Women's Tennis wins every game in 9-0 sweep over Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – For the second day in a row, the Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team completed a perfect shutout sweep of a Mid-South Conference opponent, this time taking down Shawnee State (Ohio) 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The third-ranked Blue Raiders (13-4, 5-0 MSC) did not drop a single game to the Bears (0-6, 0-6 MSC), winning the three doubles matches by 8-0 scores and winning all six singles matches with perfect 6-0, 6-0, sweeps. Lindsey Wilson also completed a perfect shutout sweep yesterday when the Blue Raiders topped St. Catharine (Ky.) 9-0 without dropping a single game.

It marks the sixth win in a row for Lindsey Wilson, who improves to 11-0 this season against NAIA competition this season.

Alex Shchipakina and Maria Prados Cid started things off at the No. 3 doubles position with a sweep of Mara McGee and Kiersten McGraw for the opening point of the day. Jessica King and Fiona Curty followed shortly after with their sweep at the No. 2 position over Kendi Kistler and Caleigh O'Neil before Henar Munoz and Natalia Kattah completed the doubles sweep with a victory over Molly Richards and Katy Singer at the top position for the 3-0 lead.

The momentum continued for Lindsey Wilson into singles play as they blanked their counterparts at every position. Five Blue Raiders completed a 2-0 day with doubles and singles victories apart from Kattah, who was replaced by Gabriella Pedroza in the singles lineup. Pedroza also won her singles match 6-0, 6-0.

Lindsey Wilson concludes their six-game road swing with an MSC match at Georgetown on April 14.
