Women's Tennis beats host Georgetown 9-0

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis swept host Georgetown (Ky.) 9-0 today at the Lackey Tennis Center.

The Blue Raiders secure at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season title with the win with one conference match remaining this season.

Lindsey Wilson (14-4, 6-0 in the Mid-South) took control of the match with all three wins in doubles play over the Tigers -- who are the first team outside the NAIA Women's Tennis Top 25 Poll.

Jessica King and Fiona Curty cruised in the second-seeded match with an 8-1 win over Kelly Swanson and Kaelin Roberts to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead. The duo -- ranked No. 24 in the NAIA -- improves to 13-3 on the season. The 13 wins are the most on the team.

Maria Prados Cid and Alex Shchipakina pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0 in the third-seeded match. The pair -- who improves to 10-0 on the season -- beat Amanda Moore and Abigail Kennedy 8-4.

Eighth-ranked Henar Munoz and Natalia Kattah made it a clean sweep in doubles with an 8-3 win over Shae Henry and Natalie Fiepke in the top-seeded match. Munoz and Kattah move to 9-2 on the season with the win.

Prados Cid collected the first point in singles and the fourth point of the day for the Blue Raiders with a win in the fourth-seeded match. She captured her team-best 11th straight win with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Swanson.

Shchipakina notched the decisive fifth point of the match with a win in the second-seeded singles match. She posted her seventh straight win and her 10th in 11 singles matches this season with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Moore

Munoz, Kattah and Curty each won in straight sets while King come from a set down to defeat Roberts 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the third-seeded match.

Georgetown slips to 15-7 overall and 5-2 in the MSC with the loss.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, April 15, as the Blue Raiders host Pikeville (Ky.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex. Prior to the match, Lindsey Wilson will honor its seniors during the Senior Day Ceremony at approximately 12:45 p.m. CT.
