Women's Tennis closes out regular season with 9-0 win over Pikeville on Senior Day

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis closed out the regular season today with a 9-0 win over Pikeville (Ky.) on Senior Day at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.

The Blue Raiders clinched the outright Mid-South Conference regular season title -- the program's 12th -- and the top-seed in next week's MSC Tournament with today's win.

In her final match at Baughman, Jessica King picked up a pair of wins. She and doubles partner Fiona Curty won 8-1 in the second-seeded match while King posted a 6-0, 6-2 win in singles. King improves to 13-5 in singles this season with her seventh consecutive win.

The Blue Raiders (15-4, 7-0 in the MSC) dropped just one game in the three doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles.

Alex Shchipakina and Maria Prados Cid remained unbeaten in 11 matches this season with an 8-0 win in the third-seeded match. Henar Munoz and Natalia Kattah improved to 10-2 on the season with their 8-0 win in the top-seeded match.

Shchipakina gave Lindsey Wilson a 4-0 lead in the team match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Mounia Sami in the second-seeded singles match.

King collected the decisive point with a straight-sets win over Thais Bezerra in the third-seeded match.

Munoz and Prados Cid claimed straight-set wins while Kattah and Curty made it a clean sweep with super-set wins.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson closes the regular season with a perfect 13-0 record against NAIA competition. The Blue Raiders enter postseason play having won their last four matches without dropping an individual match.

Up next for Lindsey Wilson is a date with Shawnee State (Ohio) in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Thursday, April 21, at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green, Ky.
