Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — No. 3 Lindsey Wilson women's tennis defeated Cumberlands (Ky.) 8-1 in a Mid-South Conference road match on Friday afternoon.
The Blue Raiders (9-4, 3-0 MSC) won all three doubles matches and 5-of-6 singles matches over Cumberlands (7-8, 3-3 MSC).
Lindsey Wilson's No. 3 doubles team of Alex Shchipakina and Maria Prados Cid rolled to a 8-0 win over Hannah Wampler and Kaylyn Collette to put the Blue Raiders up 1-0. Fiona Curty and Jessica King followed suit for Lindsey Wilson by winning 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles match against Chanel Williams and Sydni Grimes. The top-seeded doubles flight was the final match to finish with Natalia Kattah and Henar Munoz winning 8-3 over Isabella Dale and Marie Bozeman to put the Blue Raiders up 3-0 going into the singles matches.
Shchipakina extended the the Blue Raider lead to 4-0 with a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-0) in the No. 2 singles match against Williams. Kattah then clinched the team win for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Grimes in the No. 3 singles match.
Cumberlands fought back and won its only match of the day when Dale defeated Munoz in the top-seeded singles match.
King, Curty, and Pedroza won the No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-0), No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0), and the No. 6 singles (8-2), respectively, as the Blue Raiders cruised to the 8-1 team victory.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the court for a non-conference neutral-site match with No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan in Campbellsville (Ky.) on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT.
