Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson defeated its fifth ranked opponent of the season today with an 8-1 win over sixth-ranked Brenau (Ga.).
The Blue Raiders (11-4) remained unbeaten against NAIA competition this season with the win over Golden Tigers (14-4). Lindsey Wilson improves to 9-0 against the NAIA in 2016.
Lindsey Wilson jumped out to the commanding lead after taking all three doubles points.
Alex Shchipakina and Maria Prados Cid remained perfect on the season with the first point of the day. The tandem -- who improves to 7-0 on the season -- knocked off Kirsten Dickins and Paula Rives Palau 8-1 in the third-seeded match.
Henar Munoz and Natalia Kattah doubled the Lindsey Wilson lead with a win in the top-seeded match. The Blue Raider duo -- ranked No. 11 in the NAIA -- defeated Fatyha Berjane and Patricia Pacua 8-5.
Fiona Curty and Jessica King -- ranked 21st in the NAIA -- made it a clean sweep of the doubles for the Blue Raiders in the No. 2 match. Curty and King won 8-4 over Maya Mammetgulyyeva and Rebecca Pijls for the 3-0 lead. Curty and King -- winners of four straight -- improve to 10-3 on the season with the win.
Prados Cid opened the singles matches with a win in the sixth-seeded match. She extended her winning streak in singles to a team-high eight straight matches with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Palau.
Curty provided the match-winning point in the fifth-seeded match. She defeated Dickins 6-1, 6-3 to give Lindsey Wilson a 5-0 lead. Curty improves to 9-4 on the season with the win, including six straight wins.
Despite the Blue Raiders reaching five points, the remainder of the matches continued.
Brenau secured its only point of the match in the top-seeded single match. In a battle of ranked players, sixth-ranked Berjane defeated No. 14 Munoz 6-0, 6-4.
Shchipakina, King and Kattah finished the match with straight-sets wins.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 9, as the Blue Raiders travel to Mid-South Conference foe St. Catharine (Ky.).
