Women's Tennis shuts out Cardinal Stritch 5-0 in top-five matchup

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team shut out No. 5-ranked Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) on Thursday in a neutral-site matchup.

The Blue Raiders (7-4) collected their third top-five victory over an NAIA ranked opponent this season after beating the Wolves (4-2).

Lindsey Wilson captured all three doubles points and the first two singles points to put an early end to the match after reaching the crucial fifth point.

Minja Gligic and Jovana Peric got things started for LWC with an 8-3 victory over Volcy Boilevin and Livia Hollosy at the second-seeded doubles match for the early 1-0 Blue Raider lead. Maria Prados Cid and Fiona Curty then defeated Alexi Loomis and Natalie Grieve 8-4 at the top doubles flight to make it 2-0. Natalia Kattah and Alex Shchipakina completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at the third flight over Luise Gruber and Jitsupa Sirinit.

In singles play, Peric made quick work of Sirinit at the No. 6 flight without dropping a single point, winning 6-0, 6-0. Gligic brought an early end to the match in the lone battle of ITA-ranked opponents when the 16th-ranked Blue Raider topped No. 41-ranked Loomis 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles flight to secure the 5-0 victory for LWC.

Three of the four remaining Blue Raiders were each up a set in their respective singles matchups when the match came to an end.

Lindsey Wilson is now 5-0 against NAIA competition this season with four wins coming against teams ranked sixth or higher at the time.

The Blue Raiders stay in Bourbonnais for two more ranked matches, first against No. 15 Northwestern Ohio on Friday and then host and No. 17-ranked Olive Nazarene (Ill.) on Saturday.
