Box Score BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team collected its second victory in as many days after topping No. 15-ranked Northwestern Ohio 5-3 in a neutral-site match on Friday.
The Blue Raiders (8-4) are now 6-0 against NAIA competition after dispatching the Racers (6-4).
Lindsey Wilson led 2-1 after doubles.
Alex Shchipakina and Natalia Kattah put the first point on the board with an 8-3 victory over Ana Lacerda and Xiomara Aguilar in the third-seeded doubles set. Northwestern Ohio then leveled the match with an 8-6 win in the second-seeded flight.
Maria Prados Cid and Fiona Curty gave the Blue Raiders a lead going into singles play after defeating Amanda Schneider and Alisa Reshetnikova – the No. 8-ranked doubles pairing in the nation – 9-7.
The top-seeded singles flight featured a top-12 matchup as No. 12-ranked Shchipakina defeated No. 8-ranked Schneider – 6-3, 6-2.
Northwestern Ohio then rallied off two-consecutive victories to pull even at 3-3. Vladica Djurdjevic won in straight sets over Kattah in the third-seeded match.
No. 33-ranked Reshetnikova went the distance with No. 16-ranked Minja Gligic in the second-seeded flight. Gligic took the first set 6-3 before dropping the second set 6-4. Reshetnikova won the decisive third set 6-0.
The Blue Raiders then put the Racers away with back-to-back wins in the fifth- and sixth-seeded matches.
Prados Cid downed Lacerda in straight sets – 6-1, 6-1 – in the fifth-seeded flight. Jovana Peric dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Whiteny Vispoel in the sixth-seeded match to give Lindsey Wilson the win.
Curty was up a set when the match ended.
The Blue Raiders conclude a stretch of three matches with ranked opponents in three days with a clash with No. 17-ranked and host Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Saturday.
