Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team opened Mid-South Conference action with a win on Saturday, sweeping Campbellsville (Ky.) 9-0 at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
The doubles pairing of Alex Shchipakina and Natalia Kattah scored the first point on the day for the Blue Raiders (11-4, 1-0 MSC) with an 8-1 victory over the Tigers' (3-3, 1-1 MSC) Brooklyn Harris and Kyleigh Murray in the third-seeded doubles match.
Jovana Peric and Minja Gligic doubled the Blue Raider advantage, defeating Grace Rowe and Bolor Enkhbayar 8-1 in the second-seeded doubles flight. Maria Prados Cid and Fiona Curty secured the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win against Majella Nobile and Kaede Amano in the top-seeded match.
Lindsey Wilson dropped just three sets in singles play. No. 38-ranked Curty defeated Majella Nobile 6-1, 6-2 in the third-seeded singles match. Prados Cid then pushed the Blue Raiders lead to 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kyleigh Murray.
No. 12-ranked Shchipakina went three sets with Amano in the top-seeded singles flight. The sophomore from St. Petersburg, Russia took the opening set 6-0 before falling 6-4 in the middle set. She then rallied back with a 6-3 victory in the third set.
The second-seeded singles match also went the full three sets as No. 16-ranked Gligic topped Enkhbayar 6-0, 4-6, 7-5.
Peric lost just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 sweep of Harris in the sixth-seeded singles flight. Kattah overcame a first-set deficit in the fifth-seeded singles match. Rowe took the first set 6-4 before Kattah won the next two sets 6-4, 10-3.
Lindsey Wilson hosts Georgetown (Ky.) on Wednesday at 2 p.m. CT in its home conference opener.
