Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team wrapped up the 2017 Mid-South Conference regular season title with a 9-0 victory at Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday.
The regular season crown is the 13th in program history. The Blue Raiders (17-4, 6-0 MSC) have won the last six regular season titles dating back to 2012 and 13 of the last 14.
Saturday's victory marks the 13th win in a row for Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders have not lost a match since falling 4-3 to NCAA Division I member Southern Illinois-Carbondale on Feb. 26. LWC is 15-0 against NAIA competition this season.
Lindsey Wilson opened play with a forfeit victory at the third-seeded doubles match. The Blue Raiders then went ahead 2-0 with an 8-0 victory by the pairing of Minja Gligic and Jovana Peric in the second-seeded doubles flight.
Fiona Curty and Maria Prados Cid secured the doubles sweep by defeating Macarena Acuna and Natalia Gascot 8-1 in the top-seeded doubles flight.
Pikeville (0-9, 0-5 MSC) forfeited the sixth-seeded singles match to put Lindsey Wilson ahead 4-0.
Curty -- ranked No. 38 in singles competition -- sealed the victory with a straight-sets win over Bryanna Schroers in the third-seeded singles flight. Curty did not drop a game in her match, winning 6-0, 6-0.
No. 16-ranked Gligic picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Cailee Marcum in the second-seeded singles flight. Prados Cid and Peric followed with 6-0, 6-0 victories at the fifth- and fourth-seeded singles matches, respectively, to give Lindsey Wilson an 8-0 lead.
Alex Shchipakina closed out the match with a straight sets win over Acuna in the top-seeded singles match. Shchipakina, who is ranked No. 12 in singles play, won her match 6-2, 6-1.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on April 21 with the first day of the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
