Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 14-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team shutout Roosevelt (Ill.) Saturday 3-0 at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Andres Riquelme, Mutaya Mwape and Yuta Yamamoto each scored a goal for the Blue Raiders (4-0-0). Lindsey Wilson held an 18-7 advantage in shots over the Lakers (1-5-0) including a 6-0 edge in shots on goal.
Roosevelt held a slight 7-6 edge in shots in the first half with the Blue Raiders recording two shots on goal. Lindsey Wilson had its best scoring chance in the first half in the 37th minute. Mwape crossed the ball into the box to Riquelme. Riquelme headed the ball just wide of the net.
Riquelme got the Blue Raiders on the board first in the 56th minute. Mwape sent a cross into the box finding Riquelme who was able to head it past the Roosevelt goalkeeper. Yamamoto was drug down by a Laker defender in the box to draw a penalty. Mwape took the penalty kick in the 63rd minute and was able to beat the Roosevelt goalkeeper to the lower right to increase the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0.
After Roosevelt committed a foul in the box on a Mwape corner kick, Yamamoto beat the Laker goalkeeper to the lower left on the penalty kick in the 75th minute increasing the Blue Raider lead to 3-0. Lindsey Wilson recorded 12 shots in the second half while not allowing Roosevelt to get a shot off.
Mwape led the way with seven shots and three shots on goal. Dioulde Niane and and Riquelme each recorded three shots.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Tuesday for a road matchup against Midway (Ky.) at 3 p.m. CT.
