Box Score THOMASVILLE, Ga. -- No. 23-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer scored four unanswered goals to beat St. Thomas (Fla.) 5-2 on Sunday during the final day of the Thomas (Ga.) Invitational at the TU Soccer Complex.
Trailing 2-1entering the 60th minute, the Blue Raiders scored three goals over a four-minute span to take control of the match. Lindsey Wilson added another goal late to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Mutaya Mwape provided bookend goals in the second and 77th minute for his team-leading second and third goals of the season.
Lindsey Wilson held a 1-0 lead until St. Thomas' Konstantinos Mylonas scored the equalizer in the 39th minute. The Bobcats grabbed the lead in the 57th minute as Thomas Greco assisted on Federico Moronell's goal to put St. Thomas on top 2-1.
Yuta Yamamoto tied the match at 2-2 in the 60th minute off a Moeller assist.
Mwape sent a corner kick into the box where Moeller banged a shot off the crossbar. Yamamoto collected the ricochet and found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
One minute later, Mwape once again started a Blue Raider scoring chance setting up Karim Jouini's first career goal. The goal, which came in the 61st minute, pushed the Blue Raiders in front 3-2.
Moeller got into the scoring act with a header in the 64th minute. Israel Renyna -- who assisted on Mwape's first goal of the game -- added a second assist setting up Moeller off a corner kick for the 4-2 lead.
Lindsey Wilson finished the match out-shooting St. Thomas 13-10, including 7-4 in shots on goal.
William Diaz picked up the win in goal for the Blue Raiders finishing with a pair of saves.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 9 as the Blue Raiders host No. 15-ranked Union (Ky.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
