Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated No. 17 Campbellsville (Ky.) 7-2 on Senior Day Friday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 9-2 on the season and are a perfect 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference and have clinched the regular season title. This marks the 14th time Lindsey Wilson has won the regular season title and is the seventh consecutive for the Blue Raiders.
Lina Sachica Ramos and Lucia Mora Diaz secured the first point of the match for Lindsey Wilson with an 8-0 victory over Bailey Decker and Brooklyn Harris in at No. 3 doubles. Campbellsville (11-6, 4-2 MSC) tied the match when No. 15 Kaede Amano and Majella Nobile defeated No. 21 #21 Minja Gligic and Jovana Peric 8-0 in the top-seeded doubles flight.
The Blue Raiders took a 2-1 lead into singles play with a victory at the No. 2 doubles. Fiona Curty and Chiara Epifani defeated Bolor Enkhbayar and Grace Rowe 8-3.
Curty extended the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-1 with a straight-set victory over Nobile 6-2, 6-4 in the third-seeded singles flight. No. 18 Peric beat Enkhbayar in straight-sets 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to put the Blue Raiders up 4-1 in the match.
No. 12 Amano defeated No. 36 Gligic in the top-seeded singles match 7-5, 6-3 for Campbellsville's last point of the match. Sachica Ramos clinched the match for Lindsey Wilson with a straight-set victory 6-1, 6-1 over Harris at the No. 4 singles flight.
Mora Diaz and Gabriella Pedroza also picked up singles wins in straight sets to give Lindsey Wilson the 7-2 win.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Shawnee State to close out the regular season at 11 a.m. CT.
