Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team used five goals in the second half of their match against Georgetown (Ky.) to produce a 7-2 victory in their Mid-South Conference season-opener at Toyota Stadium.
Georgetown managed to strike first in the contest doing so in just the eight-minute but the Blue Raiders would regain control of the match before halftime.
Both of Lindsey Wilson's goals came off the foot of Oscar Dueso. His first strike was an unassisted goal during the 22nd minute before he captured the lead in the 43rd minute on a play set up by Akean Shackleford. Both of his goals came from nearly the same spot at the right corner of the goalkeeper's box.
The Blue Raiders controlled much of the action in the half outshooting the tigers 9-3 including 7-3 for shots on goal.
The second half was all the Blue Raiders as they scored three straight goals to increase their lead to 5-1 before tacking on two more goals after Georgetown's final goal of the night.
Rainer De Jesus started the scoring assault just two minutes into the second half, giving LWC some breathing room at 3-1.
Shackleford then got in on the scoring as he matched the efforts of LWC teammate Dueso in the first half with back-to-back goals of his own. He found the back of the goal in the 53rd and 60th minutes.
Georgetown got one back just a minute later when Sebastian Bocaz Canales scored his second goal of the night. Alexander Koziolek and Bruno Henrique scored in the 70th and 86th minutes, respectively, as Lindsey Wilson would win it 7-2.
Alex Sanchez got the start in goal for LWC as he stopped four of the six shots he faced in the game for his first win of the season.
The Blue Raiders return to the pitch on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT when they welcome MSC newcomer Thomas More (Ky.) to Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
