Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's tennis continued its winning ways today, beating Georgetown (Ky.) 6-3 in a nationally-ranked battle at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The No. 4-ranked Blue Raiders (5-1, 3-0 in the Mid-South Conference) won a pair of doubles matches and four of the six singles matches to take the win over the No. 17 Tigers (8-4, 1-1).
Georgetown took the early 1-0 lead with an 8-0 win in the third-seeded doubles match.
Lindsey Wilson rebounded with an 8-2 win in the top-seeded doubles match. Alexandra Parra and Lina Sachica -- ranked No. 17 in the NAIA -- improved to 3-2 on the season with their win over Maci Ferguson and Amanda Moore.
Steffi McDonald and Lucia Mora pushed the Blue Raiders in front for the first time with a win at the second-seeded doubles match. The pair beat Lauren Fazenbaker and Madelyn Kauffman 8-6 to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Needing three singles wins to take the team victory, the Blue Raiders looked to their top three players to provide the wins.
Parra -- ranked No. 24 in the NAIA and the reigning national player of the week -- dropped just two games in a 6-2, 6-0 win over Fazenbaker in the top-seeded singles match.
Sachica quickly followed with a come-from-behind win to give Lindsey Wilson a 4-1 lead. Ranked 29th in the NAIA, Sachica dropped the first set 7-5 to Ferguson before rallying to win the final two sets 6-2, 6-2.
McDonald closed out the team win in the third-seeded match with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Moore. McDonald improves to a team-best 4-1 on the season with the win.
Mora also picked up a win in singles, winning in a superset tiebreaker in the fourth-seeded match.
Georgetown won the final two matches to complete the match.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 9 a.m. CT on Monday, April 1, as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 7-ranked William Woods (Mo.) in Fulton, Missouri.
