Women's Tennis beats Shawnee State 6-1 to open MSC play

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Lindsey Wilson women's tennis opened Mid-South Conference play today with a 6-1 win over Shawnee State (Ohio) at Beechmont Racquet Club.

The No. 11-ranked Blue Raiders (1-1, 1-0 in the MSC) won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to win their first match of the season.

Lindsey Wilson took all three matches in doubles play to secure the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.

Parisa Rachdanone claimed the first singles win for the Blue Raiders with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Claire Carruthers in the second-seeded singles for the 2-0 lead. Lucia Mora matched Rachdanone with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Shelby Hay in the fourth-seeded match for the 3-0 lead.

Alexandra Parra guaranteed the team win with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Grace Eberhard in the top-seeded match.

Carla Alibert and Sevval Ozseker also picked up singles wins today.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Feb. 26, as the Blue Raiders host Brescia (Ky.) in their home opener at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
