Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team remained undefeated in conference play after defeating Georgetown (Ky.) 4-1 at home this evening. Three different Blue Raiders scored tonight with Alexander Koziolek, Monwabisi Mngqibisa and Nathaniel Onyina Opoku all getting on the score sheet for Lindsey Wilson.
Lindsey Wilson (7-1-1, 6-0 MSC) outshot the Tigers (9-1-1, 4-1-1 MSC) 28-7 with a 12-2 shot on goal mark. Opoku scored a brace to make it nine goals in nine games while Koziolek found the back of the net again for his fourth goal of the season. In addition to that, Mngqibisa scored his third goal of the season. David Ibrahimkadic picked up another assist for the second game in a row while Opoku set up his third goal of the season. Alvaro Verwey also picked up his first assist of the season in the victory.
The Blue Raiders got the scoring done early on with Verwey playing in a perfect pass to Opoku in the sixth minute who finished the chance for the 1-0 lead.
In the 35th minute, Koziolek doubled the advantage with a strike from outside of the box that the keeper could do nothing about. The Tigers answered minutes later, however, finding the net in the 37th minute through Luca Zellmann.
The Blue Raiders kept up the pressure on the Tigers in the second half as Opoku broke in behind the defense and rounded the keeper to slot home into an empty net for the 3-1 lead. Mngqibisa put the game away in the 68th minute with a breakaway goal to win it 4-1.
Lindsey Wilson heads back on the road to continue conference play as they travel to Freed-Hardeman on October 12th. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
