Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 16-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team won thrillingly over No. 25 St. Thomas (Fla.) on Tuesday afternoon at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
Tied at 3-3 with one match to play, Carla Alibert was able to win the decisive point over Giovanna Paschoalin 7-5, 6-3 to close out the contest and give the Blue Raiders (3-1) their third win of the season.
Lindsey Wilson opened the competition by sweeping doubles play to earn the early 1-0 lead.
Reshma Challarapu and Salome Sposetti kicked things off with a 6-2 win over Amber Paterson and Vanessa Centeno. Then No. 14 Alexandra Parra and Lucia Mora defeated Annie Carrera and Lia Pena on a 6-4 result.
Parisa Rachdanone and Alibert teamed up to win against Giovanna Paschoalin and Thalia Skeene 6-3 in the final doubles match.
No. 22 Parra gave the Blue Raiders a 2-0 advantage when she defeated Paterson in the No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-2.
St. Thomas (3-3) got on the board and won three straight matches to take a 3-2 lead over the Blue Raiders. Pena upset Lindsey Wilson's No. 26 Rachdanone 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4) as No. 35 Carrera proved to be too much for No. 31 Mora handing LWC their second straight loss, this one at 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Centeno picked up St. Thomas' final win of the afternoon as she defeated Reshma Challarapu 6-4, 6-2.
Sposetti deadlocked the match a 3-3 with her 6-0 6-0 sweep against Sofia De La Fuente.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on March 12 when they head to Pulaski, Tenn. for a match with Martin Methodist at Noon CT.
