Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. -- Lindsey Wilson women's tennis won its Mid-South Conference opener today with a 7-0 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) at the Tommy Gray Memorial Tennis Courts.
The 16th-ranked Blue Raiders (4-1, 1-0 in the MSC) used a trio of upsets within the match to sweep the No. 17 Phoenix (2-2, 0-1).
Alexandra Parra and Lucia Mora were each part of the three upsets.
Parra and Mora -- ranked 14th in the NAIA in doubles -- knocked off ninth-ranked Jessica Hernandez and Ainhoa Garrido in the top-doubles to help the Blue Raiders claim the doubles point. The Blue Raider tandem improved to 4-1 on the season in doubles with the 7-5 win.
Before the win at No. 1 doubles, Reshma Challarapu and Salome Sposetti claimed a 6-2 win in the second-seeded match. With the two wins, Lindsey Wilson took a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
Carla Alibert and Parisa Rachdanone secured the doubles sweep winning their third-seeded match 6-4
Rachdanone extended the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the third-seeded singles match. Mora followed with an upset of Hernandez -- who is ranked No. 21 in singles in the NAIA -- in the second-seeded match. Mora -- ranked 31st in the NAIA -- pushed the Blue Raiders' lead to 3-0 with the 6-2, 6-4 win.
Parra -- ranked 22nd -- claimed the decisive point in the match with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win over sixth-ranked Garrido in the top-singles match.
Challarapu and Sposetti won in straight sets in their matches while Yuno Oe capped the 7-0 win with a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) win in the sixth-seeded singles match.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at Noon CT on Tuesday, March 16, as the Blue Raiders travel to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in Pulaski, Tenn.
