Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's tennis' eight-match winning streak came to a halt today with a 5-2 loss to Cumberlands (Ky.) at UC Tennis Complex.
The No. 17-ranked Patriots (12-2, 6-0 in the Mid-South Conference) won the doubles point and four of the six singles matches to secure the win. Lindsey Wilson falls to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the MSC.
Alexandra Parra and Lucia Mora -- ranked 11th in the NAIA in doubles -- salvaged the only win in doubles for the Blue Raiders with a 7-6 (5) victory over Tomomi Nagao and Mikaela Fros in the top-seeded match.
Unfortunately for the Blue Raiders, the match did not matter in the team score after the Patriots cruised in the second and third-seeded match to take a 1-0 lead following doubles play.
Mora won her second match of the day in the second-seeded singles match to tie the team match at 1-1. She defeated Fros 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (2) to improve to 9-1 this season.
Cumberlands won the next two matches -- both in the third set -- to take a 3-1 advantage.
Reshma Challarapu trimmed the deficit to 3-2 with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win in the fourth-seeded match.
Cumberlands claimed the team win in the sixth-seeded match as Satsuki Mitani defeated Carla Alibert 7-5, 6-3. The Patriots added another three-set win in the finale to take the match 5-2.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 3, as the Blue Raiders host No. 20-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
