Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- Eleventh-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's tennis bowed out of the NAIA National Tournament today with a 5-3 loss to sixth-seeded William Woods (Mo.) at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Lindsey Wilson looked to be in driver's seat early, winning two of the three doubles points to take the 2-1 lead entering singles play.
Lucia Mora and Steffi McDonald claimed the first point with an 8-3 upset of 13th-ranked Perez Wienese and Karyna Sagalai on court two.
The Owls (16-6) tied the team match in the third-seeded match as Felicia Cesar and Chelsea Steward -- ranked 20th in the NAIA -- defeated Carla Alibert and Gabriella Pedroza 8-4.
The Blue Raiders top doubles team of Lina Sachica and Alexandra Parra recorded the second upset of the doubles play for LWC. The 18th-ranked Lindsey Wilson duo beat sixth-ranked Zlata Shuraeva and Ana Zavala 8-6 to grab the 2-1 team lead.
William Woods turned the tables in singles, winning four of the five completed matches to advance to the national quarterfinals.
Steward and Sagalai won on courts five and six with straight-set wins to push the Owls in front 3-2.
Sachica pulled the Blue Raiders even at 3-3 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Wienese on court two. Sachica finishes the season with a 12-3 singles mark, including a seven-match winning streak.
Cesar and Zavala closed out the team win for William Woods on courts three and four.
The Blue Raiders season ends with an 11-6 overall record.
