Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- Lindsey Wilson women's tennis fell 4-0 today to Xavier (La.) in the NAIA National Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders' season ends with a 16-3 overall record. Third-seeded Xavier (20-5) advances to tomorrow's national quarterfinals.
Xavier took control of the match securing the doubles point after winning all three doubles matches.
The No.14-seeded Blue Raiders faced a pair of top-15 teams during the doubles session.
Lailaa Bashir and Angela Charles-Alfred won the first match of the day at the top-seeded doubles with a 6-2 win over Alexandra Parra and Lucia Mora. The match featured a pair of top-10 doubles teams -- the Xavier pair at No.3 and Parra and Mora ranked 10th.
The loss ended Parra and Mora's eight-match doubles winning streak. The pair finished the season 15-3 as a team.
Xavier claimed the doubles point with their next win, taking the third-seeded match. Kyra Akinnibi and Farah Baklouti -- ranked 13th in the NAIA in doubles -- outlasted Parisa Rachdanone and Salome Sposetti 7-5 to secure the doubles point. The loss is the first of the season in five matches for the Rachdanone and Sposetti tandem.
Xavier entered singles play boasting four nationally-ranked players.
No. 13-ranked Charles-Alfred knocked off Challarapu 6-0, 6-3 in the third-seeded match to extend the lead to 2-0. Angelica De Vincenzis pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sposetti in the fifth-seeded match.
Xavier closed out the match in the second-seeded match as ninth-ranked Bashir beat Mora -- ranked 42nd in the NAIA -- 6-2, 6-2.
The remaining matches were stopped when Xavier reached four team points.
Lindsey Wilson closes out the season making its 16th consecutive appearance in the national tournament after winning the Mid-South Conference Tournament title.
