Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated No. 16 William Woods (Mo.) 4-2 Thursday afternoon in their spring home opener.
Lindsey Wilson swept the doubles point on the day as Reshma Challarapu and Salome Sposetti defeated Marta Calvo Larraz and Hannah Meyer 6-0 for the first win of the afternoon. Parisa Rachdanone and Anastasiia Ivanchenko followed with another 6-0 sweep defeating Lillia Komiszar and Allison Kowalke.
In the singles, Lucia Mora picked up the Blue Raiders' first win with a 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) win over Larraz in the No. 2 singles match. William Woods tied things back up at 1-1 after No. 23-ranked Alexandra Parra fell to No. 12-ranked Ana Zavala 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). The Owls made it 2-1 after Hanna Lindeboom defeated Challarapu 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).
No. 37-ranked Rachdanone delivered the tying point as she defeated Kowalke 6-0, 6-1 to make it even at 2-2. In the final singles match, Darija Mladenovic defeated Komiszar 6-2, 6-4 to earn the 4-2 win.
The No. 5 singles match between Ivanchenko and Meyer remained unfinished at 4-6, 5-2.
Lindsey Wilson will open conference action on the road this weekend as they take on Shawnee State (Ohio) at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.
