Women's Tennis cruises into MSC Tournament semifinals with sweep of Bethel

Box Score

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's tennis opened postseason play today with a 4-0 win over No. 9-seed Bethel (Tenn.) at the Warren County Tennis and Sports Facility.

The Blue Raiders (20-2) advance to tomorrow's semifinals against the winner of fourth-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) and fifth-seeded Tennessee Southern. Saturday's match is slated for 9 a.m. CT.

Lindsey Wilson captured the doubles points and all three singles matches that were completed to advance.

Parisa Rachdanone and Anastasiia Ivanchenko began the day by winning for the 11th straight time in the third-seeded doubles match. The Blue Raider duo defeated Sophia Vasconcellos and Anabella Baralt 6-1 to improve to 11-1 this season as a doubles team.

Reshma Challarapu and Darija Mladenovic locked up the doubles point on court two with a 6-2 win over Lexi Daniels and Samantha Jo Stone. Challarapu and Mladenovic improve to 5-0 this season as a tandem with the win.

Needing just three singles wins to advance, the Blue Raiders did just that while dropping just four games in the three matches.

Ivanchenko started the singles wins with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on court six over Kelsie Seiber to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 team lead. Ivanchenko improves to 14-2 this season in singles play.

Lucia Mora moved into second place all-time in the program's history with her 58th career win in the second-seeded match. She defeated Baralt 6-0, 6-1 to improve to 58-13 all-time -- including 17-4 this season. Mora is just three wins away from matching Candela Castanon's program-record 61 singles wins.

Rachdanone provided the decisive singles win on court five with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Daniels. She moves to 12-2 this season in singles play.

The remainder of the matches were halted once Lindsey Wilson reached the four points necessary for the team win.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday in the MSC Tournament semifinals at the Warren County Tennis and Sports Facility.
